Overview - House of Spirits

When his father (Lau Kong) suddenly dies, Bobby Au-Yeung, as executor of his father's will, summons his younger siblings home. According to their late father's wishes, the four siblings must live together for nine months before they can sell the house. Against her Mainland husband Tsui Wing's objections, Joyce Tang moves back to Hong Kong with her daughter. The profit-minded Jonathan Cheung and his equally snobbish wife, Koni Lui, immediately report home. Youngest brother Bob Cheung, who was on a work vacation, also returns home quickly upon hearing the news. Daily frictions occur between the family. Bobby discovers that a pair of happy spirits, Wu Fung and Helena Law, have been living in the house for a long time. The two seniors use their magic to help the family resolve disputes, but they often make things worse, producing many comedic moments. The old house is in need of repairs, leading Bobby to hire technician Nancy Wu. The two of them clash immediately and constantly squabble. But Nancy develops an indissoluble bond with the family and also finds a cure to her chronic insomnia...

Overview - Queen Divas
Being raised in a scholarly family, Nancy Sit not only takes
good care of her family, she also keeps her husband’s business running in good
order. Her sons Evergreen Mak and Pierre Ngo have yet to marry, but they each develop
an underground relationship with a popular actress. Nancy begrudgingly accepts
them into the family. Joyce Tang, the queen of dramas, and Angela Tong, the
queen of comedies, take their rivalry from the entertainment circle into the household.
Their seemingly kind mother-in-law, Nancy, actually hides a dagger behind her
smile. The act the three women put on in front of each other is worthy of an Oscar nomination
and creates many humorous moments. It is not until Nancy discovers someone has
embezzled from the company, throwing the family into financial trouble,
that each person’s hidden secret is revealed…

Hidden Singing Talents (2)
A previous post revealed some of the hidden male singing talents within TVB. This post will uncover some of the female voices hiding away in TVB.
Kristal Tin joined ATV after winning a singing competition. She recorded several theme songs at ATV, including this song, "熱燙的宇宙", for the 1994 FIFA World Cup broadcast. She is planning to release an album in the near future.
Christine Ng won multiple newcomer awards with her song "失落於巴黎鐵塔下" (La Tour Eiffel). She discontinued her music career after three albums, but recently picked up the mic again to sing the theme songs for Beauty at War.
Elvina Kong participated in the 1985 New Talent Singing Awards (alongside the likes of William So, Hacken Lee and Vivian Chow), performing the song "再見 Puppy Love". After the competition, she had a brief stint as a singer before signing on with TVB in 1988.
Toby Leung & Macy Chan were both members of the group "Girl's Dormitory". Their music had a youthful vibe, as shown in this MV for "換個話題". The group disbanded after a year. Toby went on to release an individual album, while Macy's musical works were limited to stage performances.
Mimi Lo made a hit with the song "挑戰者", but shortly afterwards, her singing career was put on hold due to contract issues. Although she recorded cover albums upon her return, she was largely forgotten as a singer until an impressive performance on The Voice.
Paisley Wu was discovered by Tats Lau (of the Tat Ming Pair), who shared her interest in alternative style music. Tats was featured in her music video, "了了". She has also worked with Jan Lamb and Edison Chen. Her involvement with music in recent years is as the host of music programs.
Rain Lau is a familiar supporting actress in many TVB dramas, but few people know that she debuted as a singer in the early 1990s. Her first plug was called "I'm Sorry". She released three albums before turning to acting. She is now contracted to HKTV.
Mona Fong, wife of Sir Run Run Shaw, was once a popular nightclub singer. She performed many English and Chinese songs. Her song "花月佳期" was a popular hit in the 1950s. She ended her on-stage career to work as a television executive in the Shaw Brothers Studio.

Official Poster for Awfully Lawful
Comment: Fittingly wacky poster for what should be a funny series. Eight main characters seem to be a lot; let's see if it can be handled without too much of a mess. One thing for sure, not a legal drama for aspiring lawyers.

Overview - Awfully Lawful

Raymond Cho and Pal Sinn are partners of a solicitor firm. They invite Roger Kwok and Johnson Lee to join the firm as well. Despite their different personalities, the four men share a close bond. They are well-known within the legal circle as "The Big Four Mature Men". Their creative tactics to win court cases has won over many female clients. Unfortunately, someone has swindled money from the firm. To save the firm from financial distress, four female lawyers are brought in. They include Roger's rival (Sharon Chan), Johnson's wealthy wife (Selena Li), a housewife (Joyce Tang) and a barrister who gets entangled with Pal and Johnson (Grace Wong). The eight people's working and private relationships get more and more messy, until they finally realize that there is someone behind all the happenings at the law firm...
Comment: Sounds like it'll be a nice comedy. I always look forward to legal dramas!
