Upcoming Movie: Line Walker 2: Invisible Spy

A serious traffic accident occurs in the busy city of Hong Kong. The Superintendent (Francis Ng) and Chief Inspector (Nick Cheung) of the CIB Anti-Terrorism Unit arrest a female hacker (Peiyao Jiang). Louis Koo, Superintendent of the Security Wing, believe Francis and Nick are suspicious and requests the Commissioner of Police stop them from handling the case. The investigation expands to Spain and Myanmar. Louis and Nick repeatedly get into conflicts with each other as they work together. From Francis' perspective, he cannot tell whether the two are good or evil, but the Commissioner thinks Francis is distorting the truth. The Commissioner believes a large number of black cops have been inside the police force for a long time. He needs someone to infiltrate a mysterious organization to investigate the matter. But everyone on the force is suspicious and Peiyao's testimony is misleading. The police executives are very confused and cannot tell who is righteous and who is evil.

Movie Challenge

I was recently challenged on Twitter to post my 10 favourite movies. Here were my choices (in order of posting):

1. Inception - the concept was mind-blowing and the film was a masterpiece by Christopher Nolan.

2. Inside Out - surprising how well Pixar was able to distill the inner workings of the mind into cute little characters.

3. Avengers: Infinity War - an epic culmination to a 10 year journey.

4. Wonder Woman - a kick-ass female superhero and one of my favourite movie quotes: "When it comes to procreation, men are essential, but for pleasure, not necessary."

5. The Imitation Game - a cool movie that got the gears in my mind turning.

6. Shaolin Soccer - my absolute favourite as a kid. Must have watched it 7+ times.

7. Love Undercover - one of the first films I watched of Miriam Yeung. Been a fan since.

8. Zootopia - spot-on commentary for today's society.

9. Gone Girl - an amazing thriller that takes many turns.

10. Eye in the Sky - it is breathlessly intense and Helen Mirren is phenomenal.

Honourable Mention: Black Panther - I would have included it, but I figured there was enough representation of superhero movies in my list. Still a stellar film.

Upcoming Movie: Triumph in the Skies

Release Date: February 19, 2015
Cast: Louis Koo, Francis Ng, Julian Cheung, Sammi Cheng, Charmaine Sheh, Amber Kuo, Elena Kong, Kenneth Ma, Oceane Zhu

Pilot Louis Koo is the son of a wealthy businessman and takes over Skylette Airlines from his father. He is particularly caring towards one of the air stewardess, Charmaine Sheh, who is his ex-girlfriend. A few years ago, they were forced to separate when Louis had to go to New York to manage his family business. Though they do not voice it, both of them have still kept each other in their hearts.

Looking to establish a new image for the company, Louis invites rock star Sammi Cheng to film a promotional clip. Francis Ng serves as the aviation consultant during the filming. Coincidentally, he and Sammi had a conflict earlier due to the flight schedule, creating an awkward environment. However, throughout the filming, they discover each other's merits and develop romantic feelings.

Julian Cheung leaves Skylette for the better-paying job as a private flight instructor. During one flight, he meets the youthful Amber Kuo. Initially, he think she is a selfish gold-digger, but they soon fall in love as their characters mesh perfectly together. Just when they get madly in love, Jayden discovers the reason behind Amber's living-in-the-moment spirit.

Three relationships that do not develop as planned. However, once you realize that nothing is perfect, being able to find happiness in the rush of things is already enough.

Fans in North America, Australia and New Zealand have a chance to watch the movie in theatres! See here for details.

Upcoming Movie: DIVA 華麗之後

Release Date: August 17, 2012
Cast: Joey Yung, Chapman To, He Gu, Mag Lam

This movie takes us into the backstage of the HK music industry. Joey Yung is a diva whose glamorous onstage career doesn’t reflect her lonesome life away from the spotlight. When forced to take a break after losing her voice, she meets a blind man (Hu Ge) and discovers a new perspective to life. They begin a secret romance filled with difficulties and obstacles…

Meanwhile, Mag Lam, a newcomer, is suddenly propelled into stardom. Fame brings along many conflicts. The non-stop rumours cause her boyfriend to break up with her. She also has to deal with the pressures of being touted as Joey’s challenger.

Very excited to see Joey in this movie. She is essentially playing herself in this role as was tailor-made for her. There is bound to be some revelations about her life behind the scenes and also the inner-workings of EEG.

Update: I'm assuming this is the theme song of the movie. Let's just say it won't be my favourite Joey song... not a fan of Mag.
