Overview - Handmaidens United

Jacqueline Wong, a maid in the household of the Vice Minister of War, leads an alliance of maids at the six ministries, who trade information and make money together. Roxanne Tong sold herself to be a maid to raise money for her lover (Brian Tse) to travel to the capital and take the imperial exams. Jacqueline and Roxanne take care of the Vice Minister's first wife (Florence Kwok) and second wife (Angie Cheung), respectively, and fight against each other on behalf of their mistresses. Jacqueline and the young master (Tony Hung) fall in love, but they are oppressed by his father (Timothy Cheng). Timothy is demoted after committing an offense. Tony is determined to achieve honors from the imperial exam and restore the family's reputation. Lisa Lau, the daughter of the Minister of War (Pat Poon), sets her eyes on Brian and tries to seduce him. Jacqueline and Roxanne worry that they will lose their lovers if they achieve a high rank in the imperial exams, and vow to ruin their scholarly dreams. As the two pairs of lovers are about to break up, they get embroiled in a treasonous conspiracy.

Overview - The Offliners

In Hong Kong, entering the financial, real estate or commercial industries are "down-to-earth" activities, but wealthy heiress Katy Kung likes being "off the ground." She and good friend Jason Chan open a tech start-up. A hacker incident allows Katy to witness the talents of IT genius Owen Cheung. She invites him to join the company. Owen is an "off-the-ground" homebody who disregards the world around him. With the help of nurse Moon Lau, he learns how to communicate well and starts to develop feelings for her. Katy and Owen go from having a difference of opinions to working together and complementing each other's weaknesses, and she unconsciously develops feelings for him. Katy initially believed that technoloy will bring beauty to the world, until Internet scandals successively hit her father (Joseph Lee), brother (Jonanthan Wong), and sister (Jacqueline Wong)!

Overview - Finding Her Voice

Retired principal Chung King Fai returned to Hong Kong from Canada in order to search for the soprano voice on his mind. He returns to the rebuilt Ngau Tau Kok estate. His granddaughter, the reclusive illustrator Jacqueline Wong, promises to help him find his former students from the elementary school choir from forty years ago. The divorced Jacqueline, with the help of her investigator friend and "fake husband" Owen Cheung, and former students Hugo Ng and Mimi Kung, finally finds the other members - Ram Chiang, Joe Cheng, Sam Tsang, Willie Wai, Jimmy Au, Savio Tsand and former music teacher Lo Koon Lan - and reunites the choir. But these middle-aged men, who have experienced life's hardships have become like oily fried sticks who have lost hope in life. In the process of searching for the soprano, Jacqueline and Owen develop a subtle relationship, while the middle-aged men rediscover their passion for life and shine on the stage once again!

Deep in the Realm of Conscience Thoughts

• This series tried to do too much. It started as a historical drama, became a detective series, and then turned to palace scheming, with a mixture of romance and failed comedy in between. The series had a large cast, which meant each also had their own story to add to the clutter. 

• So much time was wasted on the useless story lines that the final face-off between the Emperor (Steven Ma) and Princess Taiping (Alice Chan) turned out to be a huge letdown. The whole climax was half-baked and poorly edited to fit within a span of less than one episode. 

• The "scheming" in the series was predictable and overused. Anyone who has watched another palace series can guess what is coming next. 

• I was expecting a lot more scheming between the four bureau heads. It was a waste of the veteran actresses they lured out of retirement for this series. 

• The rhyming lines were ANNOYING. The effort to combine a serious historical drama with Can't Buy Me Love style humour was terrible. 

• The lost sister plot was a big waste of time. The final revelation about the sister's murderer was a mere footnote and irrelevant at the end.

• Have you ever seen a palace with so few people working there? Must have spent all the money on the costumes and sets. 

• Speaking of work, the duties of the palace maids apparently consist of spying on guards bathing in the river, gossiping, and romancing. There is also no regard for palace rules. Servants and maids can enter whenever they please and speak out of turn without consequence. 

• Annie Liu is the mandatory goody two-shoes character, which meant that I was automatically going to be annoyed with her, but her accent only made it worse. Why didn't they dub her lines? Annie does look gorgeous in ancient costume though. 

• Alice Chan had a great presence that was befitting of a princess and trounced all the other women. But her character seemed to have faded into the background during the second half of the series. 

• I like seeing new faces in TVB dramas, but there was no need to have Chrissie Chau play this concubine role. I was waiting for her character to turn evil, but she remained naive and dumb until the end. 

• Steven Ma's performance is all about his subtleness. Watch those subtle changes in his facial expressions. It is acting at its finest. 

• Nancy Wu and Edwin Siu both turned in solid performances, but they didn't really stand out. 

• Kenneth Ma already seems like a boring person in real life, he does not do well with a boring character like this one. The romantic line between him and Jacqueline Wong was forced and should have been cut.

• Savio Tsang deserves a mention for the excellent scene he did in jail before his execution. 

• Hands down the most cringeworthy acting was by Andrew Yuen as the imperial physician. The scene where he was found guilty and pleading for his life was comically bad. 

Rating: 3/5. No sequel please!

Overview - Deep in the Realm of Conscience

Behind the palace's high walls are scenes with soul-stirring emotions of love, hate, passion and revenge!

Overview - Nothing Special Force

Initially a future star in the police force, Ben Wong changes his attitude towards life due to a hereditary disease. He begins to slow down and enjoy every moment of life. He gains the recognition of Chief Inspector Geoffrey Wong and is transferred to the Miscellaneous Enquiries unit. He manages a team of extraordinary people, including a lazy former undercover (C Kwan), an over-passionate conspiracy theorist and rookie (Jacqueline Wong), a muscular, warm gentleman nicknamed "Fighter Plane" (Arnold Kwok) and a fiery tempered, pregnant single mom (Mandy Wong). All non-criminal cases that cannot be categorized are handled by the Miscellaneous Unit. Mandy ignores Ben's objections and insists on investigating death cases, taking what is colloquially called the "death king's post". Despite their disagreements, they establish mutual trust. Mandy even encourages Ben to overcome his illness, but Ben still hasn't gotten over his ex-girlfriend (Joyce Tang), so he remains silent. Unexpectedly, a mistake by C Kwan during an operation puts Mandy in danger. Ben tries his best to search for Mandy based on his intermittent memory...

Overview - Provocateur

Cosmetics mogul Gallen Lo lives with his step-daughter (Jacqueline Wong) after the deaths of his first and second wife. Gallen eventually seeks to start the second half of his life. He meets a resourceful young man (Fred Cheng), within whom he sees shades of his younger self and feels a special sense of familiarity. Overview - Tomorrow Is Another Day

Senior correctional officer Lawrence Ng is stationed at the Stanley Prison and is in charge of prisoner discipline. Clashing with prisoners every day, he is under heavy pressure and must act carefully every step of the way. In contrast, his subordinate Vincent Wong frequently ignores the rules and has close contact with the prisoners, even developing a relationship with one of them. This causes a lot of tension between him and Lawrence.

Kate Tsui, who works at the Lo Wu Correctional Institution, has known Lawrence for many years. Despite their ten year age gap, she bravely expresses her love for him, but is met with his swift rejection. Lawrence's friend and colleague, Kenny Wong, who works in the Rehabilitation Division, knows that Lawrence is only using his sister (Jacqueline Wong) as an excuse to avoid new relationships because of his previous failed marriage. But Kenny is too busy with his own family problems to offer much help. Luckily, Kenny has the support of Lawrence's ex-wife (Jade Leung) and his colleague Tracy Chu.

The ordeals inside and outside the prison cell lead to complicated stories that most people cannot understand. With a large riot waiting to break out, Lawrence and his colleagues' lives are put into danger. In the end, can they overcome the challenges and complete their mission?

Tracy Chu (朱千雪)


Tracy was a huge fan favourite when she competed in the Miss Hong Kong pageant. Although she ended up finishing third, she was immediately given an opportunity to star alongside veteran Lawrence Ng in The Hippocratic Crush II.

May Chan (陳嘉佳)


May met Wong Cho Lam while filming the movie Short of Love, who introduced her into TVB. She managed to secure a Best Supporting Actress nomination in just her first full year at TVB.

Harriet Yeung (楊詩敏)


Harriet is an accomplished stage actor that has signed with TVB. She shocked audiences in her first drama, Bounty Lady, due to her outlandish character and striking imitation of Kate Tsui. Candy Chang (張慧雯)


Candy is a pageant winner from Toronto. Her role as "Jing Jing" in The Hippocratic Crush was well-received by the audience. She was unfortunately caught up in a drug scandal, but has since fully resumed her career with a prominent role in Ghost Dragon of Cold Mountain.



Kelly Fu (傅嘉莉)


Kelly got noticed as the coffee girl in Triumph in the Skies II after rumours surfaced between her and co-star Ron Ng. She added to her recognition by taking on a challenging role as a Mainland girl in Swipe Tap Love.

Whitney Hui (許亦妮)
