Since 2004, Malaysia's Astro channel has held an annual ceremony to present awards for the TVB series that it airs. A look at the success rate in which a series/artist has captured the award both at Astro and at TVB.
Astro's awards have always been voted on by the audience in Malaysia. TVB has also moved to a voting system in recent years, so the results from Astro may serve as a good indicator of each candidate's popularity among voters.
Comment: TVB can actually learn a thing or two from Astro's awards. Astro used to have some fun awards such as Most Memorable Scene, Most Memorable Kiss, Best Couple and Best Theme Song. Also, why doesn't TVB consider bringing back the Top 10 Favourite Characters category so that they can reward more artists?

ReplyDeleteAs for TV Queen, it's so hard to say because the media in Hong Kong seems to be more positive about Kate and negative towards Tavia that I don't know if it'll affect the voting. Also, I think a lot of Raymond's fans might vote for Kate too since they're from the same series? But there are probably other people who would vote for Tavia because she's been in the industry longer. Basically, I don't know how to predict the HK audience.
Personally, I think Raymond is 99% assured of TV King. TV Queen & Fav Character will be split between Tavia and Kate. It's just who gets which.

ReplyDeleteA popular series always elevates an artist's chances. Like how Heart of Greed and Moonlight Resonance swept the awards ceremony even though some of the winners were meh.
